@witchfynder_finder also (disclaimer i don't watch F1 or pay much attention to what goes on in Euro open wheel racing) I figure the reason it's a single year contract is because he wants options. as a talent like that on a short contract he has a lot of bargaining power

@InTheLandOfTheRisingSun That's theoretically possible, but Mercedes is absolutely the top of the pack right now, especially after Ferrari had a DISASTROUS season in 2020. There are new regulations going into effect this season and starting to hit harder in 2022, so I guess it's not entirely out of the question that he might want to move around, but right now Mercedes is absolutely the team to be on
