Nothing will need to be done on anyone's end, the migration process will handle everything! Just wanted to give a heads-up on what's going on!
FYI I'm moving over to @kilroy@plush.city; currently set to redirect but full migration will follow next week! Awoo.space has been a good place for me, and I appreciate being allowed to make this place a home for as long as I have! It's definitely one of the better instances out there. Unfortunately I've reached a point where this place doesn't quite fit my needs anymore so I've had to set up a new place. Friends here and elsewhere will still experience my bullshit though, just from a different instance :P
Fun is waking up to go to the bathroom 5 minutes before the power to a good portion of the city just dies. What's also fun is having to turn off some things because even though nothing is working there's still just enough voltage trickling through to bump motors, as I found out when my fan was making weird noises. Thank goodness my PC is on a battery backup that can filter that out.
Downside to this is because I have severe sleep apnea I can't just go back to sleep. No power means no CPAP
@Russell I think it would be a pretty good idea. Some of them get kind of tricky to spot lately
I really can't wait for the day I can actually stream games, let alone on a regular basis. It will help a lot with my inability to do much because I get frustrated and bored with the game, and just end up doing something else. If I have an audience I'll (hopefully) be more likely to stick things out and work through the frustrations since it won't really be cool to just abandon a stream because I just don't want to deal with a minor frustration.
Lizard wants heat rock :C (or rather, a heated blanket I can use to pre-warm my bed before slipping into it! Can't/won't use it while I sleep no matter how safe it may be though, because I produce a LOT of body heat and would roast myself if I did. Hell, my body heat is the sole reason I have to sleep with the room as chilly as it is. 68+ F is all fine and good for a room temperature during the day, but at night I sweat so much under the covers if I don't have it below 65 F)
@Felthry Oh that stuff is pretty good! Hard to find where I am, but I remember having it before and really liking it
So I'm basically stuck being the safety net without any assistance of my own because I earn way too much just trying to keep things running to qualify for literally anything at all. I don't necessarily mind it, but it's honestly frustrating at times that I have to balance a very fine financial line to keep everything afloat or risk fucking over everyone.
Kind of sucks that I'm paying almost $2k/mo in shared expenses, shouldering 100% of those expenses. No wonder I can't seem to get ahead on my debt. Not really the fault of most people involved though; being disabled and getting zero financial help just plain sucks. Being disabled and getting SSI also just plain sucks, because yeah it's help but it's "help" with *caveats.* You get a pittance, and don't you dare try to supplement that with other income or you lose it all!
Food
Should probably be concerned that I'm only eating one meal a day for the past few days, but I've been spending much of my vacation doing as close to absolutely nothing as possible (and they have been somewhat larger meals than I normally eat as well,) so I'm likely only burning one meal's worth of energy a day anyway. (I'm also snacking on pretzels which may be helping?) Yeah I probably should be doing something that involves some kind of physical activity but holy shit doing almost nothing has been incredibly good for my mental health (and has been helping my ankle which has likely been suffering from a repetitive stress injury and absolutely zero chance to do anything about it.)
@DarkOverord Accidental features is probably one of my favorite types of happy accidents of game design
...bonus is it'll keep sounds from inside the bedroom inside, so people can stop commenting on when I laugh or make angry noises at my friends online >:C (They're not complaining, they're just amused by it. But as someone who used to not get a lot of privacy I despise having my actions in my private spaces get commented on, so when someone comments on my laughter or conversations from behind a closed door, it tends to make me shut down and just not want to do whatever it is I'm doing anymore.)
Ah fuck at last my soundproofing stuff came in! Now I can seal up my bedroom door so no sounds from the livingroom can get in. Maybe now I can actually start streaming/recording videos without background noise from dogs barking or the TV going or phone conversations. (My bedroom door has nearly zero sound blocking properties; I can hear damn near everything going on through the door)
