um this is getting a lot of boosts and TIL that Mastodon is headed toward implementing ActivityPub and away from OStatus which would essentially make this post irrelevant in the future. https://github.com/w3c/activitypub/issues/228
of course, until that happens (supposedly v1.5?), Mastodon's privacy tools should still not be trusted with critical information.

- default visibility separate from account lock
- allow replies to have a different default visibility
- replies to users your followers are not following are not listed in their "Home" (why is this not the case already)
- "mute conversation" removes relevant existing notifications
- "mute conversation" on any of your own posts, not just replies to them
- customize CSS (at least colors) per-user
- customize UI text per-user
They told me I'd have to cut out grapefruit from my diet, and I'd heard from friends on spiro that they had to watch their potassium & sodium intake.

here's a good thing to tell school-age children: the textbooks they use to learn are made by people, and those people might gloss over or omit parts of the whole truth, accidentally or intentionally
basically just teach kids to be critical of their sources of info and ask really good questions
