1) I’ve been involved with furry fandom since 1997. Gah!

2) in 1997 the internet was new and my first thought was, hey, I can look up fox photos! I quickly ran into VCL and Yerf, and was really curious about what this furry stuff might be.

3) it’s difficult to name one favorite part of the community. I really like how multi-aspected furry fandom is; you can find fursuiters, kinksters, musicians and raver kids, and maybe they’re the same people- and maybe they have nothing to do with each other. Gorgeous wildlife illustration is right there with bright Pokémon inspired designs. This is related to the other aspect I like; furries aren’t tied to any one franchise but draw on a sprawling chaotic mess of OCs, game and cartoon referees.

4) my first fursona was a wolf with one white paw, as a reference to my own scars.

6) way back when I wanted to join Dr. Frank’s hyena studies at UCB, and that’s a really sad story for another time, but I still kinda like them, they’re neat animals - real smart and charming and kinda gross all at once.

7) idk, a pretty okay amount. They’re a lot more confident, stronger and tougher. More piercings, bigger cock, that stuff.

8. I actually don't have art of them. I don't even have *my* drawing of them, from way back when they were wearing Es' character's collar. I don't have the heart to go looking for that.

9.) If I had to choose... oh wow. Huh.

Okay so online avatars/characters I've had have included bottlenosed dolphin, Morgan horse, harbor seal, arctic fox, red fox, iron dragon, wolf, akita inu, lynx, crow, a batch of others. I dunno. Maybe I'd do jackal or coydog.

10) Oh wow. How do I feel about fursuits is complex.

I really would like a fursuit eventually, but can't justify the space and I'm nowhere near close to affording one or having the skill to make my own yet. I'm torn between wanting to be beautiful in a more realistic looking suit, or clowning around in a cartoony suit.

Initially I thought suits were okay but not my thing because of the cartoonishness and fixed expression. Then I realized fursuits were cool as themselves rather than as a realistic portrayal.

And fursuit sex? Honestly I think the idea is hot and videos I've seen are hot, but I run into all sorts of my own issues - no sooner do I think "ooh this is hot" than I also think "pretty people with great lives are doing exciting things and here I am being boring and poor and scared," and that's so not fun I gave up watching those videos.

11) oh wow. Furry cons? I adore ‘em and honestly even though my experience with non furry cons is limited furry cons are a lot more interesting to me - how much furry is a giant sprawling mess of interests plays out in lively dances, visually rich art shows, costumes, meetups and heck, cool programming. I’d like to think I helped FC become cooler when I did programming.

12) afaik I haven’t “brought anyone into the fandom.” But it’s a big world, who knows?

13) this is weird; I don’t have a particular kink for either. I’m sure this can be pretty hot, just mostly I don’t think of it.

14) favorite pop culture furry character? I dunno if Big C counts here, but talking about this can wait.

15) biggest pet peeve is a toss up. “Wehrmacht uniforms just look cool, there’s no context that means wearing them/art of characters might be uncool” is way up there now- somehow it wasn’t quite as sinister during the 90s (I even RP’ed an online character in the Luftwaffe at one point!). Right now tho?

The other is folks who play herms online, and they’re just casually transphobic, which is some new level of way not cool.

Wow, I have a list of pet peeves but those are kinda the biggest.

16) leucrottoi are creatures from Greek myth (they parsed spotted hyenas as having badger heads, lion forequarters and stag hindquarters) which made it into the old Monster Manual. It’s never been an actual character name or whatevs. “Not human but can mimic a human voice“ is relatable sometimes.

17) it’s a little more like the fandom changed, I changed independently just because of time, which means I can actually appreciate the changes. Back in the 90s furry was *such* a predominately white Gay cis male space, y’know? And now we’re actually diverse. Similarly I was around for some style changes in art, like when THE thing was realistic fur textures etc, but now it feels like furry art can be anything stylistically- I don’t think 90s me would like that, but I do now so.

More of this quiz.

18) I’d like to see more small one weekend cons - particularly around Seattle, I’m biased- bigger artist alley areas to encourage less professional artists, and more viable alternatives to FurAffinity. I’d like to see cons try to be kinky *and* family friendly; I think with some diplomatic policies having space for both is possible.

@Chiaroscuro Thanks! Would you believe I completely forgot I drew that? Like I know it's mine, but I don't remember when it's from.

@Leucrotta Curiosity re: the herm/transphobe thing. I assume you're referring to people who are specifically transphobic /in addition/? (Wasn't sure if I was reading it right.)

@zetasyanthis yeah, like I’d be in the Herm Haven on Taps and someone would cut loose with something about how most shemales in porn don’t have pretty faces, and gah! Stuff like that kinda got me to give up on the Haven. Wanting to yell at people is kinda the opposite of hot.

Wow that’s way too much information.

@Leucrotta No worries. I ask, because Zeta (the character at least) is canonically herm, and I worry about how people take that sometimes. Some folks paint with an awfully broad brush. (Didn't think you were one of them, but I wasn't sure how to read that! :P) (And how's that for too much information? XD)
