Awright, as long as I'm blasting "Hey Johnny Cope," you wanna know some TMI for #TMITuesday?
My middle name's actually Hamish. I have exactly NO Scottish ancestry, but my parents were in Britain and liked the name.
@Leucrotta so you're Hamishish
@a_breakin_glass oh and it gets better! I needed an H name to match sharing a Hebrew name with my great grandfather, who begged my parents to *never* stick a child with his legal name of "Herman." (I believe he started life as "Hermann.")
@Leucrotta ...yeah that would be an unfortunate choice
@a_breakin_glass At least Hermann is a better name to work with than my great uncle Adolph.
@Leucrotta
...well, at least it can't get any worse on the unfortunate name front? :p
@Leucrotta *desperately suppresses urge to make a lame kosher joke about 'Ham-ish'*
@zebratron2084 "haimish" winds up being a legit Yiddish word for someone "homey" - solid decent salt of the earth folk, and sacred Corellon I'm not really able to live up to that either.
... I actually DID use Hamish as my name at Faire. Technically the booth I worked, we were supposed to be English, but I figured if my parents slapped it on my birth certificates, I'd a better claim to use it than anyone else at Faire!
