re: DnD blather - a related odd observation
Okay so if what I hope to get from playing/what I hope to give players are incredibly good stories, I realize now that wizards/sorcerers kind of generate their own and I need to worry about that less (except for being okay with players completely breaking my plans).
I think about awesome game stories (for fighter types mostly but I have at least two bard stories) and an okay number are wizard types I wasn't playing; the time Willy's mage polymorphed the drow high priestess and we walked out with her in a bag, fly spells to get us to Maddgoth's inaccessible castle (this just happened!) or the time Sam's sorcerer took to the skies in dragon form to take out an opposing dragon. Magic breaks reality and makes for good stories; if I put a challenge out there, the wizard/sorcerer will probably come up with something awesome I hadn't heard of. They're actually the easiest class to plan cool stories for, because I *can't*.
... I can think of some challenges right now for the wizardly set that might be good actually. Worth thinking about.

@Leucrotta I remember that dragon fight. I still think the enlarged ballista with the species-targeting missile would've worked.
