Remember during Obama’s administration when you kinda objected to the dude’s policies maybe, but you weren’t able to count more than a handful of people you felt were the worst shit on the planet and who needed to be isolated from any political power in order to literally save lives?

@Leucrotta Heh, I remember a day when people were telling me with a straight face that the biggest threats to our way of life were Starbucks and the WTO. *sigh*
re: uspol opinion
@zebratron2084 and it's not that they *weren't*, but it's like saying "we live with the possibility of a mass extinction event from an asteroid hitting the earth."
re: uspol opinion
@Leucrotta Enh, I feel like the gap between what I was told the WHO was going to do and what they actually did was pretty embarrassing, TBH.
And Starbucks still sucks, but... I dunno, maybe I've become shielded from it by living in places like NOLA where franchises just _don't_ really compete with local businesses very well at all.
I honestly could not tell you how much of that is that they hit an expansionistic speedbump, and how much is the locals saying "GOD DAMN IT, FUCKING NO" after Katrina made the realize just what they've got down here. I admit I *am* afraid that this time COVID-19's gonna give them an opportunity to move in that we _can't_ fend off...

Seriously, I don’t feel good about being able to name that many people I actively hate whom I have never personally encountered, I don’t feel good about the thought “this world will be safer when they’re dead” or labeling anyone as “evil,” and wishing suffering on anyone is a *real* bad look on someone who’s professed Buddhism even in passing.
