@jakebe 1) Thanks for posting this stuff! A lot of this is perspective I didn't have before;
2) "We don’t have to accept the images that are handed to us just because we don’t have a solid, continuous link to our past" is incredibly valid to *me* personally, which I hope doesn't sound too presumptive.
@jakebe yeah BUT I'm uncomfortably familiar with the "hey I am going to step in and take ownership of this problem Black people face" and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Anyway, Jewish identity/history gets stupidly whitewashed and simplified, and a huge chunk of what we get handed is either purely hateful or comedic takes on the same stereotypes of what we can possibly be.
@Leucrotta It's not! Black people, unfortunately, haven't cornered the market on that phenomenon; there are so many other minority populations who've suffered through the same thing.
In what way is it relevant to you personally, if I may ask?
