When I was young I had a daydream while living in the country that I would be running through fields one day, crying existentially, and be abducted by aliens who would explain to me that what I was feeling was known to them, and they could fix it.
They would then do just that, and I would watch as my human self just... washed away and my true self shined. They'd take me away from earth and show me so many wonders.
Then I'd cry because it was a ridiculous thought.

@Oneironott gendered language aside, it's a lot of that sort of fantasy. (It's also part of what inspired Michael Stipe to start REM.)
