@chimerror I really wish high school/earlier classes in everything were clearer about “this topic is so big we’re trying to give you some basics, and you can read up in depth more about whatever part of history/literature/biology/etc if some of it catches your interest.” Rather than it being holy writ. Seeing if food helps with feeling “I’m about to largely spend another week of my rapidly decreasing life to making rich people richer and to family obligation rather than the exploring, role playing, drawing and social contact I desire while bigger things are making life harder.” The characteristic endorphin rush of eating Szechuan peppercorns certainly can’t hurt.

Also it’s very Forgotten Realms that they had a high level character show up, offer a little help and then nope out of the entire rest of the movie with “this is YOUR quest, why should a 20th level paladin do anything when four 8-12 level folks can do it?”

@chimerror I wouldn’t be surprised if they did play a few games as prep, just to know the feel of the movie! All of them come across as the sort of actors who’d be okay with something aimed at getting them more character and context.

Okay the D&D movie is not just worthwhile but very worthwhile. Biggest positive, no spoiler; it was very much everyone contributing from a 4 character party, which is way more D&D than any of the prior movies.
