an extra bonus to hanging around east side for longer after work is that when rush hour's dying down KNKX goes back to playing music (which reminds me that the world's not shit) instead of news (which reminds me that the world's shit).

So tonight's COYOTE KITCHEN FRENZY; I deep-fried zucchini to marinate later, put together a Chinese cabbage salad, and since the eggplant I'd fried up for sabih was pretty bland on its own, I chopped it into small pieces and added an Ottolenghi inspired spicy garlic-cumin-lemon sauce for dinner.

Today was a solid two hour long documentary about Stalingrad on the “documentary about Stalingrad” scale of parental interactions.

Behold, the “sabih.” Basically a fried eggplant sandwich on steroids. Traditionally has tahini, summer salad with tomato and cucumber, hard boiled egg, and “zhoug,” a North African pepper sauce. If that’s too bland you can add mango pickle (I didn’t).
