I am weirdly having mixed feelings about Mamdami's win because 1) actually yeah, he sounds like a good candidate, 2) I don't entirely trust him, 3) since I'm not in New York and neither are you maybe we should stay out of it and let it be THEIR thing to feel good about, 4) people on Bluesky are celebrating with the sheer obnoxious fury of sports fans and 5) I kinda dislike that my politics too, has REALLY gotten filtered through "who cares if it goes sour, it makes my oppressors unhappy."

@Kensan_Oni I, apparently, thought winter melon would be the same size as bitter melon or opo squash. I wasn't prepared for going to Asian Family Market, and the only winter melon you can get are in these huge HUGE chunks.

Okay I cooked with winter melon for the first time ever. This is a little like saying "I cooked with corn for the first time ever." It is a lot easier to cook with than getting giant chunks of melon suggests, and came out great!

@obscurestar I agree only partly; if someone can voluntarily, successfully walk away from something like their assigned gender at birth, there's literally nothing keeping people back from walking on less embodied beliefs.

BUT, I wouldn't discount that because trans people have low numbers and income, they're a safe target.

The whole wokeness BS is much more direct. They can't win over people who've learned bigotry is bad, so they have to make learning bigotry is bad into a conspiracy theory.

Trying to stave off this evening’s rabidly foul mood, here’s a #drawing from earlier — the kenku seidhcona was easier to figure out than the nature spirit so.

1) Darth Maul's name is Luamh Trad spelled backwards!

2) His signature weapon isn't a maul at all! Laaame.

3) His boundless rage stems from his master, Darth Sidious, always calling on him while he's on the pot or in the shower. Sheesh.

I gain more technical skill and confidence in my artwork as I get older, but actually figuring out how to monetize it/how to overcome my ADHD to meet deadlines while profoundly stressed are skills I don't have, and also, it looks increasingly like there's no paying audience/this would never actually pay enough to cover bills and rent.
