@owashii@plush.city this gets personal; with everything going on I’ve had to reevaluate whether my Grampa really was a fantastic person. And the answer is yes, but it doesn’t matter; a working class policeman patrolling his own borough on foot has a different perspective from two or more well off police in a car patrolling a city they’re not personally connected to. Even if he knew/heard non police views of NYPD abuses in a different borough, would anything he could have done affected anything?

@owashii@plush.city corollary; X cop may be a great guy who honestly cares about the community, but that effectively doesn’t matter because you’re never interacting with X alone, if you interact with him at all (and as a subset of not dealing with X alone, it’s real hard to see X as a great guy when he shows up in body armor carrying multiple means of killing you).
