Also now thinking about how a lot of my sorta negative assumptions- the world’s made for people officially better than me and I’ll be shat on almost as an afterthought, I can’t do all the social stuff I want, I can’t get to be successful with jobs and finances- aren’t just one assumption to challenge but several stacked with low resources, and that’s why they persist.

* I knew challenging my assumptions required being at some level where I was uncomfortable enough to think about them but not so uncomfortable I stuck with them

* I knew I held onto shitty coping mechanisms because I was low on spoons

* now realizing replacing a self destructive coping mechanism with a healthier one or not needing a coping mechanism requires self confidence that I have done this successfully in the past, so it’s like any other skill.

It’s telling about my age that, trying to give an example of being middle aged, I came out with how bands now aren’t as good as The Eagles, rather than saying not as good as say Soundgarden or RAtM or something appropriate to my actual age…
