Cell shaded I worked on today, trying to get back into the swing of that. Figured out stuff, but I'm still not sure this is a direction I want to go.

"Take the blue pill, and you stay in Wonderland, wake up and believe whatever you want to believe. Take the red pill, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

"well is there a purple pill I can take?"

"Take the blue pill, and you stay in Wonderland, wake up and believe whatever you want to believe. Take the red pill, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

"PIIIIIIILLLLLLLLZZZZ"

*starts cramming them into mouth*

"Wait, no..."

conclusion; I don't hate this album, but it's just not pressing my buttons right now.

I'm trying to figure out if I actually like "Fly From Here" - whether I actually find it a little TOO almost smug somehow, or whether that's just how "Close to the Edge" felt almost like a different genre

wait, Vangelis was very nearly the keyboardist for Yes?

no wonder this doesn't sound as good as Close to the Edge, it's a completely different album.

oh good. for a minute there I thought I'd run out of Yes album but I'd just paused it. You could listen to The Circle Jerks' entire discography in the time it takes to finish Close to the Edge

crap this album's like if The Hobbit was actually about hanging out at Beorn's place, which makes plot-driven sense for JRRT to sort of downplay, but still that must've been awesome. I actually think Beorn's farm must've been more comfortable than Rivendell.

"Am I always this funny?" unfortunately followed by "uh oh, am I always that much of a self centered egomaniac - oh no, I'm probably having terrible boundaries and really harming people, I SUCK!"

you know, that's funny because depressive self-loathing is funny eh? Maybe I should rethink that one.

"and now that the barbarians are at the gates and the world's afire, you expect me to come to your aid"

WHAM!

"NO. I EXPECT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHILE YOU WERE STUDYING THE BLADE I WAS STUDYING THE TETSUBO"

now I am imagining that for organ bits in this Yes track, they had THE ABOMINABLE DOCTOR PHIBES rise from the floor while playing

really, you can make any track with organ way better by imagining the abominable Dr. Phibes riding an organ up from the floor. Try it next time you listen to The Doors.

crap, I forgot the "giggle about it" component.

This has been a spectacularly long five minutes or so, but to be fair I'm listening to "Yes." Very heavy dose of Yes edible, it's got like 20 mg of Roger Dean

tired: I'm going to have a half-edible and listen to "Yes"

wired: I'm going to have a half-edible, listen to "Yes," and wave my hands in the air to "Close to the Edge" wooo

inspired: half-edible, "Yes," wave, "Close to the Edge," wooo, *and* the entire Internet needs to know about this.

check this out, "Harlequin rabbits" are actual animals and not from an awesome furry take on 40K

look at these guys, they look so SOFT! I really hope they're good natured, I know exactly nothing about pet rabbits but it'd be a shame if they weren't gentle and nice.

If 'disco' places time squarely in the 70s, then the 'inferno' is presumably for lighting cigarettes. They're actually singing about chainsmoking.

holy shit this is a surprisingly listenable instrumental

it's wild how zweihander looks like polearm more than sword use. Wonder if that was sword technique diverging as some evolution of longsword?

naginata/nagimasa might wind up equivalent to zweihander, a long blade for big sweeping circular movements that you can shorten through your grip in a pinch - something in between halberd/yari and sword (especially because katana are shorter weapons). Now I'm wondering if no-dachi were way more swordsmith bragging rights to show up as often.

Woke up with acid reflux and slightly anxious and thought; you know, it's been a while and I'd been thinking about it for a while, might it be worthwhile to have a half edible as a way of tackling consistent but low anxiety? That seems to have been around a lot the last week or so.

So waiting for that to kick in.
