thinking about GenAI and corporate Amerikkka in general

I assumed any AI advocacy was a poor faith argument, just trying to cheap out on paying artists/musicians/coders/etc, because our society's rooted in dicking people over on wages in general - unless they're the "right" people.

It took me *this* long to get to connect that with our society's overall shitty take on creative work as too extraneous or obviously a passion project to be paid fairly. After all, whether you're a marketing coordinator, CSR, or programmer, you're clearly passionate about your job - which means you'll put in extra hours or tackle extra tasks, effectively underpaid, right?

... unless you're the "right" people at the top, always unlikely to understand get why their underlings don't share their passion and drive to make [whatever company] profitable, yet who partly get their bloated salaries because they honestly do have that passion and drive. (And why wouldn't they, they're the ones who gain the most from corporate success.)

Now I wonder if some of it *is* good faith, but essentially privilege, where someone who's always been hugely well off and likely to easily get a new high level position just naturally assumes all of us sharecroppers have access to the same.

Last night’s was apparently evil dudes with good beards. Description; an evil wizard, mounted on a big stallion on a hill, looks over and talks to the evil dwarf crew of one of his army’s cannon. Banners and vague figures in the background suggest a larger force.

re: furry horntposting

@LexYeen *looks at local burger chain* makes sense

Suddenly realized;

out of the last characters I played who had any depth to them, this and my current WtA character both shared the *appearance* of being valued without any actual *substance*. As opposed to past characters who obviously came from situations where they weren't valued at all. I think this reflects changes in my relationship with my parents.

just right on the edge of going completely back into this really BAD self hate

FICTION: anyone in Ustalav might be a wolf walking in human form. That mercenary soldier? The peasant sweeping? The farrier? All could be plotting, waiting for the rising full moon… and the hunt.

REALITY: while completely plastered, my friend weeps about how being stuck in a human body hurts.

Nobody knows where my Johnny has been
But Sauron left the same time
Why is he wearing that ring?
Now he’s one of the Nine 🎶

@Tuftears Kinda sorta. Ideally I still want to do comics, which means establishing shots with architecture, vehicles or animals, *and* figures.

@chimerror I actually *do* think the Greatest Generation were incredible, *because* they were really not set up to do it, *except*...

you've got guys GETTING STUFF DONE while swilling coffee and smoking like a foundry in Pittsburgh. Especially when I think about stuff like how my grandfather quit cigs (you can't chain smoke a pipe) or like my Dad's favorite uncle listening to two different baseball games at the same time, and I think by sheer chance it was a golden age for self-medicating ADHD.

wanna know what's probably a little too pricey for me, but fuckin' AWESOME?

Trader Joe's has both presliced gyro meat AND vegan tzaziki sauce, although past experience has proved that any of their bread goes off weeks before stuff from Safeway etc. This means gyros are a thing in my life again.

Last night’s , more trying to integrate architecture and figures.

ran into a screenshot of a "77% of Americans unfit for service because of weight, psych issues, or drug use" thing and...

you know how folks idealize how we used to do MANLY THINGS like MANLY WAR exemplified by WWII? In which most soldiers despite way more coming from factory/farm jobs, walking everywhere, etc, were usually *underweight*, had Greatest Generation takes on (at least) smoking like chimneys, etc?

What if the statistic's actually *always* been somewhere around 2/3rd the population?

re: Hello friends! What's going on with me +

@Bwee That sounds ridiculously good!

dude

DUDE

dude, Point Break is free on YouTube. You know like with Keanu.

dude!

I would totally have an edible and watch it except I've seen Point Break, man, like 2/3 of the way through they completely change Bodhi's character cause the dude was completely RIGHT, and no big corporate movie can afford to have that happen, and so instead it's a major bummer, it would TOTALLY harsh my mellow.

@arakin @SeldenOtter here ya go

I especially like the comments halfway down the page about how it's basically a song about being hung over in Wollongong. My friend Pauli confirms that Wollongong really *is* that charming.
