So I just realized something about the Star Wars prequels.

I’ve watched a lot of interviews with Iain McCaig, he’s one of my favorite artists and basically behind Padme’s design as well as a lot of storyboarding.

Reminded of my Grampa's story about bodily throwing a German-American Bund member out of a train onto the platform WHILE IN UNIFORM, sometime during the lead in to WWII. I have no clue how he didn't get some sort of reprimand for this. No indication of any regrets or doubts. This is the same grandfather who got teary-eyed telling me about the time he was by all rights supposed to shoot someone and he just couldn't do it. That's how badly they pissed him off.

I feel really dumb now that I've successfully installed Telegram on a laptop, transferred an album to my phone and figured out how to block a phone number.

Something that really bothers me;

I'm poor so donating any amount of money to anything is *probably* too much, even if it's just giving a homeless person an entire dollar. Giving to anything is a choice; do I help someone asking for help with medical expenses online? Which means I'm not helping someone else with rent or contributing to a big group like NRDC or NARAL.

Meanwhile it seems like rich people can just throw money at anything and frequently it's meaner.

Obviously I'd prefer this to "great" means somehow "absurdly racist, our agriculture and fisheries are going away, and a lot of our coastline will be underwater in 10-30 years, but tbh, the above is a pretty capitalistic fantasy, which is kinda rank in a lot of ways, and most issues which could be seen as "social" only have a huge economic impact.

In some alternate universe "Make America Great Again" was the slogan for bypassing (perceived) social issues by focusing on economics, specifically "make America have a viable MANUFACTURING BASE again," acknowledging a need for job alternatives to expensive nigh-mandated college educations and that a country with a strong alternative energy game might really dominate markets. (I'd like to hope this AU has more focus on unions, public transit and working class home ownership.)

temptation rising to buy Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" album for the trip north. It's just such a roadtrippy album, should I do it?
