today were partly inspired by old magazine articles about "Wargods." Wolf kisses her serval girlfriend, a reptilian otter, a graceful feline warrior takes on undead, and a leonine queen.

a culture of fear cut through me,
I felt my heart contract.
To my mind I brought the image of light,
and expanded outwards.
My fear was just a shadow,
and a voice spoke in my head.
She said; darkness is not the opposite of light, it's the absence of light.

It's a real pity that Ministry's "Jesus Built My Hotrod" isn't actually long enough to go for the entire "highway chase" sequence from Matrix Reloaded.

This borscht turned out pretty good I think. Probably needs cabbage and some dill.

best movie to pair with Van Helsing?

Dude I can get saffron at Trader Joe’s, I’ve never tried cooking with it before (I did not buy any but I got za’atar). I swear I think about stuff which isn’t D&D or food.

Now he’s back on his bullshit and he’s back in the Shire
That brave little hobbit who we all desire!

The mid to late 1990s look a lot better when you’re not actually living in them and especially when you’re living through 2017-2021 instead.

soooo I made borscht for the first time ever, and used up the last of the potatoes and nearly all the beets. I never used cumin or coriander before 2020; now they're right up there with coconut milk as ingredients which automatically work.

I also pan fried most of the okra and ate the remaining feta cheese. I'm also now out of olive oil again.

Good news is I got TP and paper towels, bad news is I forgot to buy more olive oil, tangential news is I didn’t impulse buy fennel now that I know I like the stuff

Ironic how (probably thanks to homophobia) the only 2 books on Leyendecker are OOP but you can find a b’jillion books about Rockwell, when you consider how much Rockwell would’ve loved having a big book of Leyendecker art.

I’d hoped for years working on my issues would grant me a better life, as I aged came to hope specifically that the more I got past my dismal childhood, the better I’d be dealing with just aging and ethnic stuff, stuff I’d have to work with no matter where I came from. I hadn’t expected the giant reasons for despair currently dumped in the world and, as someone raised to think everything sucked and would get worse, it’s a lot to hack.

I realize "Finnish," "sitting around in boxer shorts," and "sober" aren't a particularly typical combination but I've moved on to Sibelius' violin concerto and this thing's beautiful, why wasn't I listening to it earlier?

also I'm listening to Verdi and thinking about having a beer or an edible.

Making a late night salad with blanched leeks, beets and balsamic vinagrette counts as responsible adulthood?

Let’s see. “I WANNA SHAWARMAAAAA.” I’m trying to blend in with the jackal population.

Also, today while listening to soundtracks;

* drow rogue about to slash at a tentacle beast while her goliath friend tries to haul her out of reach and her aasimar bard friend provides a competence boost

* Yeenoghu, demon lord of gnolls, beast of butchery, and some of his friends.

first D&D game I made it to in about 2 months. We talked to flumphs, figured out how weird mindflayer futuristic doors worked, and handily dispatched some hungry ettins. Not the most exciting game session ever, but a nice one to come back on.

blastin' the Pacific Rim theme to get pumped for D&D
* slams into chair *
PHB acquired and open, check
character sheet, check
we have hot water heating, coffee inbound, go go go go

Livin' here in Jersey fightin' villains from afar
y'ghotta find first gear in y'giant robot car!
