It’s when I’m ducking steel pipes so I can troubleshoot a label printer on a loading dock in 30-40 degree weather, while feeling like shit over current events and being called out for getting a procedure wrong which I wasn’t in fact told how to do, that I seriously think I did something wrong in becoming an office worker.

Gotta say I haven’t taken sides on an issue that fast before. It doesn’t hurt that this is a lot like the last war I protested, so I’m pretty sure I know why Putin is doing this. It doesn’t hurt how completely full of crap he is. But without the vehement blame for Biden, praise for Putin’s pet President, and excuses for Putin, even footage of Kyiv being hit wouldn’t have erased my doubts that rapidly. So thank you Republicans, for making my ethical stance this clear cut!

Childhood left a big red button in my psyche about “adults are always around to assign work and go off on you for getting it wrong, but if you need assistance they’re nowhere to be found,” this job is great at pushing it. Consciousness of that brings some but not complete relief.

in other news I'd like to skip out tomorrow again and won't because this job's now been set up that I'm basically assumed to come in.

Elaborate dream where I cribbed the entire game from a series of not very good fantasy paperbacks where the heroes were very very good and the villains were completely two dimensional.

The only parts remembered now are that in the books, the heroes snuck into then destroyed a fortress using "war wagons" in a direct rip of Ep IV, including a scene where the noble ranger like halfling hero rushed to the side of his comic relief friend who'd actually destroyed the fortress - and who recovered and was perfectly okay of course. Then they parlayed with frog folk who wanted to join the good side rather than be recruited as shock troops - the frog people didn't want to fight but would guide the heroes to the villains' ultimate lair, *another* fortress hidden in a swamp.

All of this framed by wandering around a huge house I was visiting - they had plenty of places where a guest could stay, none with any privacy or quiet. And outside, where I kept trying to find a place to sit and write down these oh so original campaign ideas, and everywhere was spattered by recent bird poops.
