what should I work on tomorrow after work?

okay, probably nobody is going to find that funny except me. Also I'm reminded of the "Oglaf" strip about sexual dimorphism in fantasy which *has* T. regina.

man that scientific name makes no sense, how can it be Tyrannosaurus regina, where Regina is now was underwater during the Cretaceous?

what if we had a polyamorous Queer makeout session in the Star Wars luxury hotel

today, I really REALLY wanted to break out the blue Col-erase. Anyway, some skeleton warriors and a couple of fiends. Censored 'cause the babau is originally swingin' around, like "Den."

Did I mention that I made the mistake of telling my folks I was thinking of trying to move to a new job, responded to being asked why by explaining that I really didn’t like staying late every Friday on top of working late other days, and I got “well what else are you doing Friday nights? They’re paying you.”

“And this month for Saint Paddy’s Day, each box of me Lucky Chairms contains Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Ah yes a delicious sprinkle o’ self-evaluation, regret and overbearing Catholic guilt straight from Baile Atha Cliath!”

Wayne Reynolds has been drawing various saints, so I've been looking up some of the ones I don't know. St. Simon Kananios is one of the original apostles, but it's not entirely clear who he was or whether he was from Kana or one of the Kanaim. Also, sources differ whether he was martyred in two different ways or died peacefully - in three different places.

apparently I've watched the video frequently enough that I can't hear the opening notes to "Night on Bald Mountain" without immediately thinking of it going into "Intergalactic Planetary."

the bisexual urge to rise slowly from your chair and scowl during Danny Elfman's "Batman" theme.

finished the last of the burned eggplant (the recipe has pomegranate seeds, which honestly don't make eggplant glop with garlic better than it's already going to be), sauteed cucumbers and fennel, made this carmelized shallots with thyme stuff, ate a couple of croissants. Like I'm channeling Galactus or something.

Need to remember that other peoples’ unintentionally antisemitic assumptions are UNINTENTIONAL, and though I don’t think anything I could say would help, feeling angry and betrayed isn’t doing be any favors. Also; I should probably eat.

opinion about the war in Ukraine

Yep, there it is; the offensive has bogged down in urban areas, because offensives always bog down in urban areas and people always start wars thinking they'll win in no time.

And when swift territorial gain becomes a slog which looks terrible in the news, the politicians and their pet media either work extra hard trying to sell the war or they pipe down about it as it grinds on for years. At this point I can't say "Putin's going to lose power over this," and there's a chance this may go back to simmering.

But I worry a lot about the protesters. It's key to a war like this that the politicians insist the entire populace loves them and that any who object are the weird far left, and between that and the usual careful regard police anywhere have for human bodies, rights and dignity, there are a lot of Russians who are not safe right now.

Somehow I got from "film noir femme fatale songs" to eventually realizing that I can't actually pull of No Doubt's "Just a Girl" in my best Queens accent. I do just great until the chorus and I just can't sing in the upper part of my register *and* throw enough power into it.

okay fine, let's listen to the saddest part of Edward Scissorhands. I seriously am NOT capable of watching it. As a treat afterwards I will listen to the happiest music from Edward Scissorhands.

ooh it's time for my favorite Danny Elfman movie themes! Let's see. "High Speed Chase with Christmastime Bell," "Thereman Meets the Bongos," "Dark Bell Chorus," and of course "Scawny Goths Waltz in Snow" complete with the "Crying Jag" leitmotif.

Okay so I got laundry going, moved power strips and stuff from last night when some but not all outlets were working, set up radish pickles as an experiment, and made dinner, trying out one of the Polish recipes and making "fleet style pasta."
