one thing Masto doesn't have that I love about it compared to Twitter is no trends. Okay most “race” stuff is pointless but complaining that an artist portrays only Black people is EVEN POINTLESSIER;

* how often have artists portrayed only Caucasians, so why *not* only Black people?
* by definition there have been centuries of African art with nothing but Black people
* similarly I can walk into parts of Oakland and be the only pale skinned person there, so why would art work different?
* most importantly if someone is stoked to draw *anything*, why stop them?

I like Mastodon, but it’s greatest strength is Twitter’s greatest weakness and vice versa. Centralization means I can blunder into say, herpetologist Twitter, which I absolutely adore, instead of having to know liz.ard exists and then if awoo federates with it; but centralization means it’s always easy to encounter ultra rightwing Twitter AND if Twitter goes, say because new management is completely in love with an unviable business model, all of it goes.

Before this takeover, I thought of Twitter’s employees as basically hostile; people making incomes better than I could dream, enjoying lifestyles I’ll never enjoy, the sort of people the Bay Area wants, not shit like me; yet helping make the last Administration so much personal hell.

But all that was needed to make me really sympathetic to Twitter employees was instituting a legitimately toxic boss. I hope *they* land somewhere nicer.

Also Oregon passed an ordinance limiting magazines etc and now every pro gun leftist in my feed is screaming about this, not exactly enjoyable reading. It’s shitty that there’s no right answer here; no gun control measures mean people get shot all the damn time, but any gun control measures mean enforcement, and enforcement means police letting their ultra right buddies off while eagerly harming and killing whoever they want.

Unfollowed someone on Twitter because she is a fantastic artist, but I just can’t deal with the non art posts. Feel bad about this but buttons got pressed and this is the simplest resolution.
