wwii stuff
oh wow Operation Coup de Main (it's not actually Operation Dead Stick which was my original search string!) - ridiculous good luck; the bridges were held in part by ex-Sov/Polish/French troops under German leadership who probably didn't want to be there and when the German general called for tank support he couldn't as tanks couldn't be moved without Hitler's direct order (and nobody wanted to wake Hitler up for this).
When German tanks arrived a Gammon bomb took out the lead and blocked their column; and an attempt to bomb the bridge while the Brits were taking it fizzled. A close thing.
Like most things around Juno/Sword/Gold beaches, and the aftermath in Operations Goodwood and Cobra, nobody ever bothered telling me about this.
Image, fantasy creatures, violence implied burns
#drawing tonight turned out to be playing with big black shapes and listening to The Anti-Nowhere League. Black dragon breathes a stream of acid on a hapless opponent!
This isn’t a particularly depressive spiral day, but it’s still a “if I could simply stop existing I would” sort of day. That’s not possible, so gonna see if the Food Trailer of the Unusually Large Chicken Katsu is open for lunch. They were open when I left work last night but they’d been closed during lunch break the last couple of weeks so this is probably too optimistic. Seriously last time I went I got two meals plus enough rice to use for fried rice later.
Image, fantasy creatures, eye contact
#drawing today - some things worked and some didn’t. Armored fighter versus bullywugs in the swamp!

Food, hunting, meat
Not really my story but.
My mammalogy professor gave us pointers on skinning animals while doing so, including; use cornmeal instead of sawdust if you’re planning to eat it.
Turns out he’d eaten an ocelot (didn’t recommend it).
He and some other then grad students did a big trancept across South America, pooling money and effort to work on several theses. To further cover expenses they hunted animals for study skins. To further save money they ate everything they hunted.
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
