Re the latest kerfluffle; having been around c level execs and venture capitalists whom other leftists would automatically consider monsters, but whom I considered very charismatic, I’m constantly surprised by how completely unpleasant Musk is for his wealth and authority. I suspect there’s a batch of business types who DO think that’s a charismatic executive style, similar to how I literally can’t conceive of Trump’s constant scowling as appealing to anyone.

Actually feeling like sending out comfort into the void, for anyone who wants to feel it; not as an entirely selfless gesture, since feeling connected isn't entirely either selfish or selfless. Hope y'all are doing okay.

hey guess who got 5.5 hours of great sleep but is now up with racing thoughts and some weird stomach upset.

I think one place I'm going with this is that any more tolerant state is facing a batch of new arrivals who will probably not have all that much money (very Great Migration) and even though a trans equivalent might not have the same generational poverty, wouldn't this be a great time to start making life easier for poor people in general? (Better transit, rent control, zoning mixed income areas, more benefits etc?)

A minor ethnic gripe here is that everyone always pulls Holocaust comparisons

but that isn't accurate to literal centuries of Jewish experience. That's sort of like referencing the 1921 Tulsa Massacre without any other incidents of anti-Blackness before or since, and as though there are no African-Americans around.

And, along those lines, I actually feel that transphobia news has a *lot* more in common with Black experience - conservatives rolled back rights, including with loss of life, the "opposition party" didn't get in the way, and the result was the Great Migration - not in Europe, but right here.

Sure I’d heard it before. It’s the same sort of sad song you hear in a million black and white movies that goes with the rain pouring down, the sort of thing you hear right before the private eye delivers the tough guy monologue.

In the personal side of politics here, I realize that beyond “person suggested my friends be genocided” and “this implies they would like to genocide my ethnic group and myself” as part of “decided scapegoating is a good distraction from rampant profiteering and environmental devastation,” this is bully behavior; not only do I want to fight because that’s a memory from childhood, but bullies pull this shit because they’re sure it’s safe to do so.

Trying to do more subtle #coloring on an old(!) #drawing. Adventurer encounters a minotaur in a dungeon somewhere. Found out the hard way that "paint and apply" is the brush I want in Clip Studio, and not "opaque watercolor," but I feel good about figuring it out finally.
