I said steam, steam
other bad dreams
goin' up to Harlem with a pistol in his jeans
a $50 bill inside a paladin's hat
and nobody's sure where Mr. Knickerbocker's at

shine shine a Roosevelt dime
all the way to Baltimore and runnin' out of time
the Salvation Army always seems to wind up in the hole
they all went to heaven in a little rowboat
clap hands
clap hands

I live cement
I _HATE_ this street
give dirt to me
I bite lament

Best song by The Cure?

I had one wasn’t actually as bright idea as I thought it was so now I’m sitting in a tangle, of traffic, moving very slowly through Renton on my way to a nicer used bookstore, and maybe a Russian deli

man how do I feel good about my artwork when it's currently a dead end hobby and I'm nowhere near half as good as most people posting stuff?

prejudice in America

it's like;

they hate Blacks, because at some level Blacks were "supposed to" always be convenient labor, then convenient labor who were also convenient markets, and how dare Black people want something even mildly INconvenient to capitalism like being free, being successful when they weren't "supposed to" be successful, or wanting bussing, affordable housing, a chance at college education.

they hate Queers and trans people especially as the ultimate in xenophobia; Queers demonstrate that the world can be just fine without it being exactly what we're handed as objective truth, and that's scary.

but US? We no longer are the convenience to power we were in medieval Europe; we don't even have the numbers to be sweatshop workers or a good marketing demographic. It's like anti-semitism exists almost entirely as its own convenience and the actual existence of Jewish people who get hit by it, is purely incidental.

ZOOMER NOT KNOW HOW TO KNAP FOLSOM POINTS? UDDTHRUSH SHOW HOW WE ENTERTAIN OURSELVES BEFORE SIMPSONS CAME ON. BUNDOLO! BUNDOLO!

“In 4 years we can have a quincinera for your depression! We can wear black, smoke cloves and listen to Goth music.”
“My Chemical Romance?”
*feels old*

But what if your virus to give willing recipients Freddy Mercury’s mustache gets out of control? What then doctor?

Dear Young America Foundation, please die en masse and leave my country and my fellow citizens in peace. Thanks.

violence mention

rather than post about a certain person's need to be punched until something breaks loudly and then punched a lot more let's talk about

uh, why are y'all starin' at me?

so 11:30 rolls around, and okay let's start winding things down towards bed, we gotta move fairly early tomorrow AND then me and my friend watch a batch of old videos and now I'm AWAKE!!1! again. Maybe not enough to actually do anything but enough that I'm not sleeping yet.

Important question; if sushi as rolls are basically burritos, are nigiri tacos? And where does this leave hand rolls?

this is getting too serious and sad, here let's have some slightly self effacing humor about responding "CHRISTMASTIME! HEE HEE HEE HEE!" to parts of Danny Elfman's "Spider-man 2" soundtrack

further navel-gazing

and I'm now thinking of transience, how the random unfairness of the world is its joy as well, the world is changed in ways I couldn't have imagined as a kid so far away and so long ago.

Some of what seems scary is merely unfamiliar and new, what's really scary now was already unbearably old when Reagan was in office, when Isabella expelled my ancestors from Spain, when Duke William starved the north of England into submission.

And while my childhood held joys and wonders that my friends will never know, I will never know what it's like growing up with the internet unfolding or being a teenager posting to DeviantArt and Elfwood, or any number of things; any more than I will now what it's like to sit in wonder at the flickering black and white screen showing the first steps on the moon, hear this new band The Beatles who aren't like anything else I'd heard before, etc etc.

And that's okay too.

cancer as analogy, anger, pol reference

if living in the USA now is a little like knowing you'll probably die from cancer, hearing anything about certain people is a little like like getting the biopsy results back. And part of what makes THAT so fearful is the sure knowledge that like a sufficiently advanced cancer, nothing will stop them metastasizing.

And, while I'm trying to remember that if a sort of random and unfair world means what happens to anyone from Raoul Wallenberg to Terry Jones to even someone as crummy as *me* isn't fair, isn't what we truly deserve, the down side of this sort of random unfair world are the Reagans and Mengeles of the world, who die well off and peaceful far from the horrors that surrounded their victims.

the follow up;

The Ring gets me to Queen which

gets me to Flash Gordon which

gets me to TMBG (instead of savior of the universe, get those missiles ready to destroy the universe) which

gets me to The Day the Earth Stood Still which

gets me to Mars Attacks which

gets me to Men in Black

apparently The Ring cycle gets me to I Want to Break Free gets me to Queen gets me to Flash Gordon, which is basically also opera with manly Gay men and valkyries kinda
