old religious parable, birdsite
A samurai asks a monk to define Heaven and Hell.
The monk starts just laying into this poor schlep. He's still tossing out insults all the way up to when the samurai loses his temper and pulls his sword.
"THAT is hell!" the monk says.
The samurai thinks for a moment, breathes, and sheathes his sword.
"And that is Heaven," the monk says.
This is very much how I feel about closing Twitter when other users piss me off. Masto is a LOT better in that respect.
luckily for me I associate some leitmotifs with other media than just Excalibur/the Voluspa/etc
Oh mighty warrior of great fighting stock, might I inquire to ask, ehh, what's up doc? For it is the doom of men that they forget.
... 3 minutes of Wagner later...
Shields shall be SPLINTERED! Spears shall be SHAKEN! A sword age, an axe age, iniquities multiply, a wolf age till the world ruins! Ride now, ride now, ride for ruin and the world's ending! LET THE WORD GO OUT THAT BRODIR HAS FELLED BRIAN! #WouldYouKnowMore
Done! Getting lunch at my favorite Chinese on island, Xing Yuan. I’m gonna miss this place.
The huge house where they were doing the survey had a DO NOT PLAY WITH THESE THEY ARE NOT TOYS sign over a collection of figures from different cultures. Stop making the alebrijes fight! Stop stacking alebrijes on the Buddha!
Doing a short gig this morning, a health/exercise related survey, so just paid bills and even drawing my own stuff before coming here. The ethnic identification listed “middle eastern” as well as white, so that was a nice change of pace (I still hate declaring it tho). This is in a big AirBnB place in Piedmont, you should see this. It’s like I suddenly wound up in Altadena somehow.
storytime re sad bits of Tim Burton Films
so I'm hanging out with my friend and we're having a great time and hey, Ed Wood is on.
We're watching and having a great time before I say "hey, I think we should turn this off."
"But why?"
"I can see where this is going right now. Lugosi's going to die, and I'm going to cry for five minutes straight."
"Well why don't we keep watching this and see?"
And sure enough, Lugosi died and I was weepy for most of the rest of the movie.
movie quotes
"I am Natal Mounted Police."
"Oh, did ye hear that 8793, he's a peeler, come to arrest the Zulus."
...
"How far can you redbacks march in a day?"
"Oh, about 20 miles."
"Well a Zulu regiment can run - run! - 20 miles in a day. *And* fight a battle at the end of it."
"There's daft it is, I don't see no point in running to fight a battle."
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
