thoughts about racism/capitalism
Obviously African Americans have representation tied to “how capitalism can use you.” I think that anyone who isn’t very specific WASP faces that sort of representation and invisibility tied to being a convenient resource for capitalism.

Whereas if you’re Asian American you’re perceived as Asian, a first generation immigrant even if you’re incredibly American. There were anti Chinese riots, Chinatowns and the first gong fu school in the USA long before my family showed up! So we’re presented with media in which people are always shown in Asian, rather than American context.
Again, You People get assigned capitalist convenienced “smart person “ roles, just don’t do anything *exotic*.

I feel like ever ethnicity gets their own specific version of the same bullshit.
So being Asian American is sort of the flip side of being Jewish. When you’re Jewish everyone wants you to disappear into whiteness; nobody like you exists, your history doesn’t exist, and you will be made very uncomfortable if you don’t integrate, shut up about antisemitism, etc. but You People need to be assigned roles in capitalism.
soooooo someone reminded me of the Mr. Sparkle episode of The Simpsons. Which stands out to me BECAUSE
years and years ago I was at a birthday party where it was part of a CD they had on as background noise. They had on The Matrix as a background visual thing - with no sound.
I forget all the places that synced up perfectly other than "AWESOMU POWA" during the lobby scene, and a close shot of Lawrence Fishburne grimacing to "All I know is they used my face for their stupid logo!"
oh yeah it's the tunnel/980 N onramp theme music!

By the way there’s been a LOT more. And one more special message to go, and then I’m done, and I can go home.
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
