I’m pausing reading The Metabaron for a while (dinner, do something else with day etc). I think once I finish this I’m not gonna touch comics weirder than the most bland X-Men book for a couple of months.

Okay it figures that Jodorowski manages to put trans masculine narrative in here while making it misogynistic and weird. Like “‘Dune is kinda bland’ has now long ago been left in the dust” weird.

A mere mortal would consider “the last of the Metabarons, utterly despicable and incapable of feeling love, desires an obvious heroine who despises him for murdering her father” to be “writing yourself into a corner.” But this comic was crafted by no writer with such limitations.

Okay time-travel-incest-newborn-psychic-duel-prosthetic-head plotline would be completely utterly off the rails for any mere comics author.

But not for Alejandro Jodorowski!

I think it was on Yom haShoah I saw this, an Allied photo of Jewish women delighted to be let loose from railway cars that were taking them to be gassed. Vaguely healthy looking people in civilian clothes rather than camp uniforms.
