One very specific generational thing for me has been, early in adult my life the sheer glut of material meant acknowledging naw, I don't love everything X-Men. But I've been slow to acknowledge I don't love everything Star Wars - even with all the books and comics, only now does it feel like there's a ton of canon material where any fan needs to pick and choose.
Pol opinion, anger
#subtweet said it before; non-violent protest works when the average voter sees police and military handing out tear gas, bodily harm, arrests, deaths and goes, I don’t like that. It stops working once the media blocks, downplays and enthusiastically lies about what’s happening. (There’s the churches, but they were always lying shit.) Without the eager collaboration of the folks proclaiming they’re wonderful watchdogs, progress at great cost IS possible.

Probably borrowing trouble but I've already called all congresspeople to ask them to protect the EPA's ability to define wetlands, and I can't DO anything better about environmental fallout from how the rich fundy brownshirts in SCOTUS will inevitably decide, so I may as well get some coffee.

Cranky opinion about trans stuff and capitalism
I’m starting to feel like most of trans identity is determined from within, on a personal level, it’s not a tidy neat marketing gimmick. Aside from trans flags, the only thing that’s a sure fire sale to trans people is uh… Actual trans actors and actresses playing trans characters, or Queer stories which aren’t tragedies but someone’s trans cause it happens sometimes, and that might lose nice cis dollars so we can’t have that of course.
A rule of cool TTRPG. You gain 1-3 Awesome points for doing cool stuff, and use them like Karma in Shadowrun, as experience or burn immediately to *survive* doing cool stuff. I figure like WEG Star Wars you split actions but spend Awesome to double your dice pool. Mere success isn’t enough; this is a game about one liners right before explosions and backflips in pleather while firing twin mini Uzis. And, if you want to appeal the GM award of Awesome, ask your group “was that cool or what?”
Journaling
What got me here was thinking also that how I’m introduced to really uncomfortable inevitable stuff makes a difference, once familiar or if presented in a non judgmental fashion some though not all of the sting goes away.
Journaling
Then I thought; all sorts of negative stuff is pretty much inevitable. I am going to die; I am going to live while people I love die; I am going to lose friends, get sick, get stuck in traffic, etc etc. None of these are comfortable and they really shouldn’t be comfortable.
Accepting this would be a way past hypervigilance. But hypervigilance is looking for ways to dodge or parry instead of remise; that requires longer term thinking, something PTSD physically makes me bad at.
Image, fantasy creature, animal corpse
#drawing heavily armored troll standard bearer. Very handy for an evil army on the move.
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
