#drawing today, thinking about a fennec fox ‘sona?
gonna say it again; Twitter allows you to make short witty comments, share photos, and stay in touch with friends elsewhere, which is a hugely solid product and which they are constantly trying to up sell. It's like if Coke's marketing focused on how you can use Coke to make red velvet cake, degrease engines, and how they have a corporate booth at football games, etc, everything aside from how you can actually drink Coke.
WWI talk
So I suddenly realized what's up with the Battle of Helm's Deep in the Jackson films. It's a WWI analogy! PJ's interested enough in (especially the NZ experience) of that war that he actually treats the whole thing relatively seriously. If Gondor, seat of empire, is the Britain analogy then logically the allies Gondor denigrates yet desperately needs would be Australia and New Zealand. And "highly mobile cavalry plus people really to young to be in a war trapped in one defensive position" is definitely the ANZAC experience of WWI. Helm's Deep resonates more with PJ than the triumphant chaos of the Pelennor Fields.

Image, fantasy creatures, eye contact, violence
Just one #drawing today, Scythian styled armored cavalryman literally collides with a brutish northern ogre or giant. I really wanted to try drawing a Thracian styled helmet but was more interested in scale armor.
So, I guess this needs to be said, apparently: there is no shame in getting Covid.
A few of my friends and acquaintances who’ve been constantly vigilant and have taken thorough precautions throughout the pandemic have come down with Covid for the first time within the last month or so, and they seem somewhat embarrassed by this. As though they did something wrong and their sickness of proof of this. Please, if you get sick with Covid (or anything else) don’t feel guilt or shame, and don’t feel like you’ve somehow failed.
And please don’t feel you have to hide being sick. Sure there are judgy jerks out there, but fuck those people. A lot of us are more than happy to run an errand or provide any other support we can.
There is nothing shameful about being sick.
Look, some decrepit old buildings went down, what might go up here? Could it be more square condos I can’t afford? Maybe apartments I can’t afford? Or maybe it’ll be a charming bar I can’t afford or sell bike stuff or provide dog care services since those are things I can’t afford either! The future here in Seattle is so hopeful and exciting!
"ok but it's not like he can just liquidate all his investments and give away $140 billion"
You're right! It means that, of the $463.567 trillion of wealth in the world, across 8.01 billion people, he has basically autocratic control over 2,419,068 people's share of the world's economy.
When someone's net worth is nearly completely in capital, it doesn't indicate how much stuff they have as much as how much power they have.
Consider this in the context of how the past fifty years worth of economic policy have been all about "free trade" and privatisation.
Something that’s been bothering me for a while here
The former owner comes in daily as a consultant, and usually brings his dog with him 2 days of the week. She’s an old bichon frise who will bark or whine nigh constantly if he ignores her, and pees the carpet (unsure if that’s trying to get attention or just lack of control due to aging). So I really don’t like her (thoughts like “wish the feral coyotes would eat you”) and this is pretty upsetting since I used to think I liked all little dogs.

Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
