I’ve met Holocaust survivors, and maybe this is because I was dealing with them in okay settings with nothing triggering the CPTSD, but I swear they had less persecution complex than TERFs and other right wingers.

This sounds a lot to my redneck Georgian ears like “Black men want to rape White women” and I know what THAT one leads to, so I guess it’s not just vile prejudice reminiscent of antisemitism.

We have Nazis straight up having rallies, police murdering folks with no down sides, folks tried to stage a coup in favor of a Russian asset, reproductive rights have been rolled back, and this doesn’t touch climate change, covid, widespread poverty, lack of transit options and environmental devastation, and what these people have decided is THE issue is trans women exist, and allowing that, somehow means they might invade “women’s safe spaces” to assault women.

Oh wow now I’ve prompted the gender essentialism and the misandry.

Damn I got a torrent of crap from that TERF including “YOU PEOPLE are dying to invade women’s spaces.” I’ve been YOUPEOPLE’d before, but it wasn’t for being trans.

Lessee, trans women don’t screw up access to birth control, hygiene products, abortion, equal pay, fair treatment in medical studies, etc. Once in women’s spaces trans women want things like using the bathroom or being imprisoned without harassment. Sure sounds like it’s you that’s manufactured a problem.

As a Jew, I really don’t respond well to claims that a tiny minority with no political power and nearly no money are this oppressive elite in positions of power (and we should therefore genocide them). Even if I were very sure I’m male and my gender is nothing but, I would be duty-bound to stand with my trans sisters. TERFs are not welcome in my space; not online, not in real life, not ever.

I feel like where we *should* be at by 2023 are real “culture wars,” rather than the term describing a huge pushback on human rights. Nice but not life or death discussions. In a reasonable world we tackled things like “is it okay for teens to access hormone blockers” or “police shouldn’t summarily execute people” in the 90’s or early 2000s if that late. But this isn’t a reasonable world and we’re here with the body count mounting up, I hate it.

Actually a weird info request for those of you who own chickens;

My WtA character grew up in a safe house in the middle of nowhere and I figure they raised chickens. His pack needs a guardian spirit and he’s going to push for Chicken. What would be really positive traits of chickens that a particularly angry older teen might admire?

Other days I think the future holds less and less hope until I get together enough spine to end it.
