Seeing if food helps with feeling “I’m about to largely spend another week of my rapidly decreasing life to making rich people richer and to family obligation rather than the exploring, role playing, drawing and social contact I desire while bigger things are making life harder.” The characteristic endorphin rush of eating Szechuan peppercorns certainly can’t hurt.

Also it’s very Forgotten Realms that they had a high level character show up, offer a little help and then nope out of the entire rest of the movie with “this is YOUR quest, why should a 20th level paladin do anything when four 8-12 level folks can do it?”

Okay the D&D movie is not just worthwhile but very worthwhile. Biggest positive, no spoiler; it was very much everyone contributing from a 4 character party, which is way more D&D than any of the prior movies.

They were playing the sort of song that shows up halfway through the picture, somewhere between discovering the body and the girl inevitably pulling a gat on the private detective. I lit up for the fifth time in the last half hour.

Attempt to make tripe like I’d get at dim sum! Looks and tastes about right (needs less chili oil and more ginger). I get the feeling it’s a lot more worth the effort to cook in big batches at restaurants.

Oof. I don’t usually get overwhelmed this way but the (teething?) infant having a loud meltdown, the teacher’s loud conversation about science fairs with a colleague, and the climbers at the next table having a loud discussion about equipment (plus clanks), was a bit much for me.
