It's a bit more like "come to us". Between DeepL's best guesses and my long-ago-may-have-been-grade-school-level French, the lyrics come across as "when the world and/or inside of your head feels overwhelmingly fucked up, you can come to us for comfort", whereas the English lyrics always seemed to carry more of an urgent "if something's after you we've got your back". Or is that just me?
