UI follies, unlearning reflexes

"Firefox Focus" floats a little magenta 'trash web history/open web pages' button in the bottomright corner of my phone's screen.

Exactly where the Mastodon web client puts the bright orange "AWOO!" button, if the posting is a reply to another.

Did you know that your peripheral vision is, generally, more intensity sensitive than colour dependant? Mine certainly is.

I've wiped out at least 30 of my own tweets so far by trashing indiscriminately. >.<

Just left a bigbox hardware store that has moved all of its IoT home automation devices into a secured cabinet. Said cabinet recently held pretty serious herbicides, if the warnings taped to it are any indication.

"These products will kill *ALL LIVING THINGS* in your lawn, including grass."

I'm already picturing Alice or Bobby Homeowner picking up a repeater and thinking "FINALLY! LETHALLY DECENT WIFI COVERAGE!"

*considers using an quartz IR lamp to 'mow' crop circle interference patterns* ;)

Canada has released two permanent stamps celebrating the full cybernization of the last hives of the rusty patched bumblebee and the metallic green sweatbee. The Task Switcher reminds us on this joyous occasion that "much as it is amongst larger work units, while flesh is fleeting, The Hive is Eternal; Our Work is Never Over."

The honey is no less sweet, and slightly higher in iron and chrome content. :)

And now, a word about how expensive cutting away and rebuilding most of a 60-year-old poured concrete porch is:

Exquisitely.

"My waffle is insufficiently toasted, Lord Vader."

"What if it could be turned to the dark side?"

"Yes... It would make a most powerful part of this complete breakfast."

"It will join a bowl of cereal, a glass of juice and a ramekin of fruit, or die."

"You know, if you had a desktop plotter you could cut films to silkscreen your own circuitboard paint layers."

"... so? I don't need that ability. I can barely keep up with maintenance on The Folly. I haven't even started testing the board mill. Aren't we getting a bit ahead of o-"

"Purple. Circuit. Boards."

"..."

"With rainbow traces."

"You're the devil. The actual devil. Aren't you?! I'll never finish *anything*."

"MUAHAHAHAHA!"

"Fight me," the knight called.
"No," the dragon yawned.
"You must!"
"No."
"But it is your purpose!"
"In your story, not mine. Tell another."

So, I'm back on the missing meds, just in time to remember that Discontinuation is A Thing, as are side effects that go away with regular use but come back when you stop taking them for a bit, and congratulations, you can have both at once if your timing is good.

Only way out is through. I shall be fine. Been this way before.

Just tired, today.

Missed a few days of the cocktail of antidepressants and such I'm always on, because drug renewals are such a hassle. Putting off mental healthcare 'just one more day' always seems like such an insideously harmless idea. A day off one or two meds will hardly dent serum blood concentrations. I know lots of cognitive techniques to keep on top of emotional thinking. I certainly won't let multiple meds slip repeatedly. Not again.

This time, as the cartoon moose says, for sure.

3d printer babbling

So, what has actually happened here is the nozzle and the throat elements have separated under heat, allowing pressurized Pinkamena - er, pink PLA filament at 220°C - to ooze out and coat the heating element atop and bottom, caramelizing slightly.

No biggie. Going to clean it off, then retighten with the block *at* temperature, allow to cool, then reassemble. Should solve that problem, and possibly address a minor print issue I noticed.

Dear Process Luna.

Pony mane is not, nor should it be, used as a substitute for printer filament.

Not even once.

Not even 'just the tip'.

Your faithful student,
Fandango Encore

Ps. Please send another Pinkamena.

3d Printer Babbling - Switchholder

Pleasantly challenging! Elegant design: narrow flat lengths, circular voids, dovetails, and supported by the smallest footprint.

I'm going to try it a second time - want to relevel the printer Z-axis relative to local reality and then relevel the bed to that, there's a slight J-bend that affects the right controller dock. But it was a 95% print, easy.

Oh.

Perhaps, when they installed new, outgassing cabinetry made with contact adhesives,

they should have ducted the air vent away from directly blowing air into those things

and outwards so the house didn't become a neurotoxic soup of liver-throttling VOCs.

3D Printer Babbling

The Folly is cheerily churning out a test/config cube in bubblegum pink, which seems to be performing well with the new shade of PLA. Assuming it goes well, the gcode for the Switch vertical mount adapter has been generated: should be able to get that printed and out the door tomorrow afternoon.

Sometimes, evenly redistributing the future is kinda neat. n.n

Wee bit nsfw mental imagery.

*swaps out carbon-fiber/PLA filament for pure pink PLA filament in the additive 3d printer*

*clears the print nozzle*

*new nozzle is steel plated and much less prone to clogging, and clears filament with ease

*voluminously*

*especially when hot*

It looks like a bubblegum elemental got it on with Pinkie Pie on the printbed, is what I'm saying.

Slightly amused that I am so far behind on Steven Universe now. ("How far behind are you, Moment?") I've had the newest eps spoiled and I *still* have no idea what happens.

I'd need to invest in infrastructure before that bridge could be crossed, let alone burnt, is what I'm saying.

Hmm.

Could you get enough of the essential amino acids from a diet of four soymilk iced grande Frappuccino beverages daily to survive long-term without protein-synthesis issues?

"'Melted sheep butter'?!"
"...what?"
"Those poor sheep! And how can you even milk them like that!"
"..."
"... I'm overthinking this menu, aren't I."
"Oh yeah."

Our Enemies in Blue

"Crime and criminality were [are] thus constructed to reflect the ideological needs of elites. Criminality was less a matter of what people did than of what they represented."

This is why policing and criminalizing behaviors inevitably leads to oppression of poor people, people of color, homeless people, etc

This is why calling the cops on someone "acting strangely" can end with that person dead
