@Motodrachen repairing expensive things is an increasingly superhuman task, unfortunately.

@Felthry I've replaced surface mount capacitors under a lighted microscope and torn small blocks outta trucks.
I love being able to walk up to a mechanical problem and figure it out in the ten steps it takes me to get to the machine.
I've watched two guys try and re-time the ignition on a Motobecane while flipping burgers for an hour, finished with the burgers, and set the timing on the bike perfectly with a ground down spark plug.

@Motodrachen What kind of surface mount? Because modern electronics are using more and more 0201s, which are Utterly Ridiculous.

@Motodrachen I don't think mil-spec has much to do with package sizes. I just know that while it's easy to hand-solder 1210s or 0805s and annoying to do 0603s, it's practically impossible to do 0402s or 0201s by hand. (those sizes, by the way, are all in tens of mils, 1210 is 120 mil by 100 mil)

there is actually one smaller size, called either 01005 (10 by 5 mils, though it's actually pretty far from that) or metric 0402 (0.4 by 0.2 mm) which is literally about twice the width of a human hair

@Motodrachen oh I thought you meant mil-spec component quality.
