The only reasons I can see reacting to an employee feeling discouraged enough to wonder if they should quit, with telling them you think they have one foot out the door already and won’t do good work for them, then telling them their work isn’t good anyway and only gets worse, is either you want them to quit, or you’re just hugely self centered.
