for years, computers being more useful was cool. the nerds would make computers more useful, and i'd be like "this computer thing is now even more cool than it was!!"
but now the nerds have made computers about as useful as they seem to be able to. so theyve stopped making them useful, and started making them cool - based on what their idea of Cool is. nerds love all those new software frameworks. they love abstraction!! they love a Complicated Thing Inside A Thing. and now computers are shitass
@sashakovich A little hesitant to go right back in there, but what are you gonna do?
@hyratel Know out ahead of time to ask if the stainless had been supplied in the Hardened or Annealed state.
@hyratel Stainless steel being Maximum Evil.
No, Really. I let my guard down because it was the Fifth repeated fifty thou cut facing off the stock, and it Grabbed.
At two thousand rippums. And then everything went all Kerbal.
Public Service Announcement:
Wear your Safety Glasses.
Torque everything to spec.
Use EVERY guard and safety your tools are equipped with, and make some of your own while you're at it.
Stand Well Clear of any possible debris trajectories when around automated machines.
Treat every running tool as if it's Radioactive. Human flesh goes nowhere near spinny bits.
I had a Lathe's safety door blow clean off it's rollers and whack me in the Chest today, and I was observing the above rules.

@glitterwitch Kerithe: What kinda getting off? Who do they tend to Empathize with in the stories?
Or is it an atrocity tourism kinda thing? I feel you big time on "I love them But what the actual Fuck?!" and it's important to know where personal pathos begins, why it's so much fun, and how to replace it with the healthy alternative.
Because usually it's a desire that can be met in a Healthy way, but that path has been blocked by trauma.
the most important thing I want people to know about Western art history is that most of these "great masters" and renaissance geniuses were using mirrors and lenses to trace proportions, as well as literal teams of background artists and support technicians. the cult of individual male art genius continues to this day, in similar workshops. especially in modern installation art. the "genius" behind the art just comes up with a concept and relies on others' labor to actually create it.
what im saying is: kill the art critic in your head.
Southern Mass's local machine healer and part time witchdoctor.
Tiny motorcycles, magic potions, machine tools, progressive rock, trance states, and hand sharpened drill bits. Oh, and I read Tarot. Probably 18+ just to be sure.
