#mastomonday, About me, (Some furry nudity)

Hey everyone!
I'm a Trinary Plural system of Dragons in a human suit that does engineering, car repair, and lately, Lots and Lots of Discworld-style Witching.

Tohri is Red, Keri is Blue, Yaori is Green, or a Goodra.
Usually a Goodra.

Feel free to message me here or on Telegram, Our specialties are assisting with Plurality, Supernatural Menace, and "What the Hell is that Ticking sound and What Does It Mean?"

Because any one of those can straight up ruin your life if you don't have help.

This weekend I spent my time at a friend's house building a Lego mecha squad for Mobile Frame Zero. Unfortunately we did not get to play, but look upon my works.

I work in IT which is the reason this house has:

- mechanical windows
- mechanical door locks
- no Alexa/HomeKit/Google
- no Internet connected thermostats, lamps, or whatnots
- a dumb TV
- wall switches for lights

Oh my god...

Kestrels are the kobolds of birds of prey.

"Modern processors are like nitro-fueled funny cars - they excel at the 1/4 mile. Unfortunately modern languages are like Monte Carlo - full of twists and turns."

-- Dave Ungar, 1998

While I am on the subject of imaginary books, here is a faux-Baen book about a snake lady who dresses up like a robot unicorn to get the dirt on the universe’s oldest continuously operating floating rave.

dying synth (175 words)

well, shit. i knew this day would come eventually, and here it is...

the display on my alesis fusion is on the blink. literally; just like my vaio screen did a few days ago, it's started flickering and fuzzing and generally behaving like something's just burned out.

this would be annoying but not fatal in most synths, because most synth have an extensive SysEx implementation that allows them to be more or less completely controlled remotely.

but the fusion does not. they never got that far when they were coding the OS - they got stuck on basic stuff, like keeping audio and MIDI in sync...

so this damn thing, which cost £799 new in 2006 (and had its power supply replaced in 2007, after it decided one day that it really didn't like the mains voltage standards in the UK), is basically going to have to go in the bin because as far as i know it can't be effectively serviced :-(

this is why we don't tend to bother having nice things. eventually they go away.

re: dying synth

the annoying thing is that i was just on the cusp of buying a new synth anyway - a Roland JD-Xi - but the money i would have spent on that instead went on an emergency sojourn in west yorkshire

oh well. i guess instead i'll just load up a PC with all the commercial softsynths i've bought over the years, and make that work

because if the hardware that, say, the Korg Wavestation VST is running on dies, you can just buy a new machine and reinstall. whereas if you have an actual Korg Wavestation and the hardware dies... that's all she wrote.

PROPOSED FROZEN REWRITE: elsa's parents suddenly remember "wait a sec, we're in fantasy 1800-somefuck, ice is a major industry for export! THE KINGDOM IS RICH! WE NOW HAVE AMAZING PROSPERITY!"

the movie is now about anna inventing the air conditioner because she wants to spend more time with her sister instead of elsa going on humanitarian missions to hospitals full of people with fevers.

at some point elsa makes a battleship out of pykrete, and it is fuckin' bitchin' as FUCK.
