@tcql@octodon.social Hm, would something like a limited-event LARP work? Make characters, but nobody can post public until event starts, then it's slowly guided, and then shuts down after event's over, say a week or two?

@chr@cybre.space If all goes well in life I think this is the hill I will eventually die on. Never to plural apostrophes, I say, quietly to myself, because really most of the time it doesn't actually affect me.

@vahnj bc that last one this morning I had to do a lot, scroll down, wait for load, scroll down, wait for load like usual, scroll back up reading everything, then notice a friend replying to another friend, but I didn't see other friend's post, so start over again; had to do initial and redo twice I think? And last one had a blank spot where a toot should've been.

@vahnj was that only to fix the no-updates-unless-refresh thing, or also the sometimes/often things just don't appear in my timeline but when I refresh they both appear and are inserted into proper order issue?

Like what's that kind of support called? IT help if needed when you don't have any internal IT. And how to find a good one? Is remote-only good enough, or does local have a lot of hidden advantages?

Friend of mine is starting a small business, will have an office of one workstation, and the most experience anyone has on staff is buying a laptop from Best Buy and getting talked into buying an extended warranty. From Best Buy.

Anything they should know or put in place now that'd be super helpful later? Getting local support contract as expenses allow?
