@raccoon maybe one less wire to a device farther away, might work? I don't know much myself but it looks like a PoE device would have to accept a minimum of 37 volts, so a separate device for stripping and downstepping for current devices (taking up more room in the project box), and I don't know enough about electronics if that could be cheaply miniaturized onto a future pi board. But yes, cool idea, less wires the better.

Imho it's about near vs far, or one's feeling if they should be near or far from the subject. Also used psychologically to invoke "us vs them" kind of mentality.
