"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. Generally, by the time you are Real [...] you get very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

My timeline on birdsite flies by so fast most days that I have no sense of having read or seen anything on it, only a vague and usually incomplete memory of a sound byte or image macro I might have seen and can't remember exactly enough to share.
Thank you, awoo.space, for feeling less like a group of people fighting to talk over one another and more like a group of friends having thoughtful conversation with each other.
More good pinball scores from this weekend~
I missed ranking into the high scores on this machine by 150,000,000...

Why is reducing a person down to only one word denigrating and wrong, but describing and even defining characters in a story using a single word or trope commonplace and accepted?
Relatedly, are character creators and writers particularly upset when fans or critics describe their characters this way?
Lycanthropy is a real disease that perplexes everyone. One interesting fact about it is that it isn't restricted to wolf forms, but can extend to bear forms, bat forms, panther forms and a few others. The rarest of them all is dragon form, which you have been diagnosed with

anxiety, dumb feelings about Patreon
And so, I get a feeling that unless I have enough money to become a patron and pay them, I probably shouldn't bother them, even if just to leave a message of support or ask a question about their work...
I don't know if anybody would even be upset if they got a message from somebody like me who they didn't already know and who wasn't paying them, but I feel like it's possible they would be, so I don't bother saying anything...
anxiety, dumb feelings about Patreon
I've been really afraid of talking with any artist or writer or content creator who has a Patreon page lately...
Partly it's probably my anxiety like usual, but... I have been feeling like if a creator has a Patreon, and is making content directly for their patrons or has a private chat room, then not only are they probably very busy making their content, but they probably spend most of their time talking just with their patrons...
It's nice to know that Mastodon is capable of nearly crashing my entire system from a single Firefox tab left open for one week...
If there is a known memory leak in this project's code, how has there not been any work done in fixing it? Or has there been work done, but the work hasn't been merged in with the project? It seems like a major flaw for any user who uses Mastodon for any length of time...
@tiden Cajun cat's curry?
@Triplefox Unfortunately, yep :\ Javascript streaming is the only simple solution I've found...
@bentosmile If you like arcade-style shmups, maybe try TxK? It's a spiritual sequel to Tempest 2000, made by the original developer of that game, available on the PSN store, and quite fun.

Poly trans cuddlefloof programmer and gamedev(?). I love poking around in and reverse engineering old games. I'm also super shy and have horrible anxiety, so ... please be nice...
I don't mind if you follow request, but if I don't know or recognize you, please send me a message so I know who you are. #nobot
