Perhaps we'll skip over the hundred or so sports games that are in the collection, and try to remove shovelware when we know it's shovelware.

Hmm. We're trying to mirror the Internet Archive's collection of PS2 isos, but it looks like we won't have enough space on our hard drive for that. We might end up getting a second storage drive in a few weeks.

For the time being, I suppose we'll get what we can fit. We're worried about the state of video game archiving after emuparadise shut down.

@ShugoWah We've never had a discrete graphics card before, of either company! This is really our first desktop computer that wasn't a hand-me-down; we've had laptops almost exclusively.

@ShugoWah We were initially going to get a 1050 Ti, but after looking into it and deciding we want to have the option to run VR games, we decided to go up a tier. And if we want VR capability, we're going to need more than 3GB of VRAM, or at least that's our impression of the matter.

There was some debate over whether to go with a cheaper RX 580 8GB, but a number of friends have had bad experiences with AMD graphics cards, so we went with nvidia.

There's a small amount of worry that tomorrow they're going to start a new, even better sale, but... Better to know we'll get it for a decent price than chance being able to get it for an amazing price, I suppose.

EVGA has a very good reputation for their customer service, and their warranty seems very good. I think that's worth the extra money over the Gigabyte card we were looking at, where several reviews complained about poor customer service.

Well, we've ordered a graphics card now. An EVGA dual-fan 1060 6GB for $280. I wish we could have gotten it a bit cheaper, but prices don't seem to be dropping much and the price on this was about to go back up to $300 tomorrow.
