Since I'm curious, which do you prefer as a low-profile analog control method for video games?
Note: "Trackpoint nub" refers to the mouse controller found on some thinkpads and the right stick of the New 3DS, and "Touchscreen analog stick" refers to the type used in some iOS/Android versions of 3D games such as the smartphone release of Final Fantasy III, where the zero position is wherever you tap, and dragging from there acts like moving an analog stick.
Apparently, they go back to latin words meaning "to pick up" for inception, and "to put aside" for exception.
They seem wholly unrelated in meaning, yet they are similar enough that I suspect they share an etymology somewhere.
@noiob Good point.
@noiob @monorail I don't know! Probably fine, though I don't have that good a grasp of just how long 50 characters is.
"Let's see, it's enough to type this sentence in."
That seems like a good length--the sentence above, counting the quotes on either side of it, is exactly 50 characters; I used it to get an idea of how long that is. I can see cases where that wouldn't be enough, but it's adequate for most things.
@noiob That wasn't really a request, by the way. It'd be nice if you could, but I don't have any pressing need for it. What would be more helpful would be the ability to put more characters into poll options! I know I've seen other instances do that.
@noiob I can only make four poll options! Though you could probably change that if you wanted to.
Redrafted this to specify that I meant for video games, despite using a computer as one of the examples--there are simply no good examples of it on a video game controller. I wouldn't even have included it if not for the New 3DS.

@noiob Hmm, that's true. Let me redraft it. Because yes, the trackpoint nub works great on computers, and I'd certainly hate to use any of the other options for a computer.
Now why the hell did someone actually vote for the trackpoint nub? I definitely wasn't expecting that, and I only put it in because the New 3DS had one; we don't consider it anything close to a good control method for video games.
@monorail I personally like the Vita style ones; the way the circle pad doesn't roll under your thumb feels wrong. It is, however, a more workable solution given the need for the 3ds to fold closed.
