@matt What is this, and why are people so interested in it? I'm assuming it's some TV show or webcomic character?
@typhlosion That would explain why he shows up in so few of the games.
@monorail Not really the first; it could have come to consoles in the SNES or N64 era and had that hold as well.
@JulieSqveakaroo If it isn't, look for a replaceable battery as a feature on your replacement unit. And if the existing one didn't have it, communication with the computer is a good bonus too--it's a nice feature to have, when the UPS can tell the computer that it's lost power, and the computer can do what it needs to do to safely shut down without losing your unsaved work.
@JulieSqveakaroo No need to get a new UPS; every one we've ever seen has a replaceable battery. Just swap the battery out and you're good to go. Don't forget to properly recycle the old one.
@JulieSqveakaroo Of course, since the battery circuit will probably be fused separately from the rest of it, that's worth looking into first. A UPS is a useful thing to have, but they do have more failure modes than a simple surge protector.
@JulieSqveakaroo If this is a double-conversion type battery backup--the most reliable type to work in a power failure, but least efficient and reliant on the battery even when there is power available--it's possible the battery is dead and needs to be replaced.
@monorail What makes that world more real than theirs?
@monorail "real" is relative.
@monorail "gamefowl" is a semi-common term for certain types of birds, so I would assume "gamecock" and "gamehen" are variants thereof.
Headmate to @Felthry, still figuring out how things are after a long absence.
Twenty-something feminine-leaning androgynous arcaninetales taur usually with two heads. Interests in puzzles, engineering, and a good book, and curling up with a good friend.
Pronouns... zhe/zhir for now, but that might change in future.
