@Caste Very cute!
@jasper We've already got a decent enough membrane keyboard, so we're not urgently in need of anything--it's just a little larger than I'd like is all. Our main concern right now is getting the mouse and graphics card, both of which we've already picked out: a logitech G502 and a Gigabyte nVidia GTX 1060 6gb. That's already going to run us over $300 so we're probably not going to worry about the keyboard for a while!
@jasper Thank you for the advice though!
@jasper Linear switches don't seem like what we'd want; we're used to a distinct tactile feel to them like you get with rubber dome and membrane keyboards.
@jasper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00542RTIU/?tag=pcpapi-20 It's this one, by the way.
@jasper We would want something about as quiet as our current keyboard, which is a chiclet keyboard on a laptop. We've heard recordings, and none of them really seem quiet enough except for this one Topre keyboard marketed as "silent"--except that keyboard costs $270.
@HubOfMany Good evening!
@ShugoWah That happened to ours once, and it just fixed itself after leaving the system off for a while. I don't know what causes it, but it doesn't seem too serious.
@HubOfMany It's good to see you on here! Welcome to awoo.
@knightly Good morning!
money, computer build
It looks like we're going to manage to build our entire computer for $943.29 after we get the last few components. What we have now is already very nice, and only cost $589.96, but we still plan to add a graphics card and a few other parts, which brings the price up.
Still, it will end up with a good Ryzen apu with a GTX 1060 6gb graphics card and a good quality 1080p IPS monitor, all for less than $1000.
@pearshapes Good job! We need to try to be productive too...
money
But that purchase is a matter for another time. Perhaps we'll be able to get it next month, or the month after that if not.
money
Currently, for the mouse, speakers, graphics card, and one additional case fan that we plan to use, we're going to need to shell out just over $350. On top of that, a mousepad would probably be nice...
