Baba Is You is a very difficult game. The puzzles are well-designed but extremely hard and I'm trying to get through all of them without any hints but I might need to give up on that and ask for hints. Anyone here who's completed the game and could provide some hints? Not solutions, just hints.

@Terrana@tootplanet.space Weight measurements make so much more sense for non-liquid things, but kitchen scales are rare over here.

re: possibly gross

@Brainship They're not really--it's the chemicals produced by the reaction of bleach with the urea and ammonia found in urine that do that

Bleach on its own won't be pleasant to get on you but it won't give you burns quite that bad

possibly gross

@Brainship Fun fact: bleach is used sometimes to clean toilets. Bleach reacts with compounds found in urine to produce highly corrosive gases. We've heard at least one story of someone getting chemical burns on their butt because they hadn't flushed it after cleaning the toilet.

Imagine a video game, a grand strategy game on the scale of Civilization, but where, every time two armies do battle, the game changes to a Fire Emblem style tactics game, and then on top of that, every time two units engage in combat, it turns into a fighting game.

A game of this would probably take an exceptionally long time to complete.

It's odd to think how commonly things like ammonia and bleach are used for cleaning, when you know how dangerous they are.

@scoliwings@scalie.business We are plural and aren't sure how it works! So don't worry too much about it.

@scoliwings@scalie.business Hmm. Are you plural? Because the way you're talking about this makes it sound like you could be.

Well, I actually managed to sleep all night without waking up in the middle of the night this time. I hope that means this cold is going away.

"real" and "fake" are not very useful concepts when it comes to identity. Rather, throw them both out and judge things based on usefulness, helpfulness, or just how comfortable or appropriate they feel to the person or persons in question. There will be a lot less stress and imposter syndrome.

@packbat Since Eastern music, as far as we're aware, also fits into the same pattern of notes, I think there's something deeper than just historical accident, unless it goes all the way back to the indus valley civilization or something. I'm not sure if Native American music does as well, though. I don't know if we've ever heard any Native American music, actually.

The fact that music tends to be written around eight note scales with uneven spacing between them seems very arbitrary. I suppose there's a mathematical origin to it, but it seems strange.

I just saw a youtube video from an amateur chemist using vodka for a stock solution of ethyl alcohol and I find that amusing. Though effective, as I imagine anything food-grade is going to be pretty close to lab-grade!

Goodnight, all. May you rest well and awake refreshed!
