Good thing about getting a ps vita: It was such a commercial failure that even the good games for it are pretty cheap, even brand new.

And despite being a commercial failure it has a good selection of games, from what we've seen. Quite a few JRPGs, including one game we bought but haven't played yet, called Exist Archive, that's been called the spiritual successor to Valkyrie Profile, so that's exciting!

Very tired this evening... I think we're going to go to bed earlier than usual. Goodnight!

The PS Vita is odd. Why did they put a touch sensor on the back of it?

I mean, sure, the reason they aren't used is historical, like everything else to do with language. But they're nice sounds!

There are a few consonant clusters that don't occur in English, yet feel like they'd fit in perfectly fine, and I can't imagine why they aren't used. Specifically, /sv/, /sɹ/, /pf/, and maybe also /sf/, /bv/ and /kv/.

Quote from the game we're playing: "Oh, dear lord... I know I'm a self-centered capitalist pig, but please... save me anyway!"

Context: The character is a venture capitalist who got trapped (by the sudden appearance of monsters) in a town that owns a mine he wants to (buy? buy the product of? it's not clear), and he has all the usual greedy-merchant tropes.

Is "unironically" the new preferred term for "seriously"?

@Austin_Dern Felthry told me to let you know that a random monster in the game Ys I & II Chronicles (in the Moat of Burnedbless, if you have the game and want to see it for yourself) says, "I think I'm melting.... But I kinda like it!"

Apparently that reminded it of you!

Hello, everyone. How are you doing today? I hope you're doing well. It feels like current events are too much for us right now, and I'm sure that others feel the same way, and I want to make sure you all know, you're not alone.

We had a thought: If someone makes a DS emulator for the Playstation (3, 4, vita), they could call it "That PS DS BS", simultaneously being catchy and jokingly self-deprecating.

Apparently you can't post an image without text, so here's some text.

Where, I wonder, did the reduplication of titles in responses in military contexts come from? I'm talking about how a recruit is expected (at least, in the media we've seen; we've never actually been in or known anyone in any military) to reply to a superior with "Sir, yes, sir", rather than just "Yes, sir".

If we were to get a PSP to hack and play old games on (we've heard they're very easy to softmod), does anyone have any suggestions for which model to get? There's the PSP 1000, 2000, 3000, and then a few sub-models of those apparently, and the ill-fated PSP Go model.

"Well, the short answer is 'no'. The long answer is 'yes'."

We just got some new LED lightbulbs, and for some reason, they have printed on them, "Caution: Suitable for damp areas". I'm not sure why that requires caution.

Boys with skirts.

Boost if you agree.

(yep, this is a re-edition, the first one died with my previous instance)

It's really unfortunate that the great vowel shift happened basically immediately after English spelling became fixed.

I just found what seems to be an octant of a peppercorn in our keyboard.
