@ShrimpyShiro@snouts.online granted, I haven't really used masto exclusively a lot for posting anything, so it hasn't been a big deal. Sometimes I vaguely worry that something that gets crossposted from birdsite might deserve a CW, but of course, that site doesn't support them, so...
Slapping a CW on every crosspost is an option, but just blindly CW-ing everything makes a timeline impossible to skim, so that's a pain in the ass too.
@thingywott having to do the same thing manually more than once gets old fast, and also if we're being real about it, I would forget to do it probably like 90% of the time anyway. But I still wanna share stuff over here too
@thingywott I mean, I'm looking at twitter most of the time because... that's just where most people I follow are, so that's naturally where my attention is.
I enabled crossposting specifically because masto sits in the background and gets checked less, so I wouldn't have to manually copy/paste things over.
I'm not really going anywhere in particular with this, I don't really have a mental image or anything I'm working off here.
I just get frustrated about this sometimes and wanted to sort of dump whatever sort of stuff I've been thinking into text.
Haven't picked a particular bird species though.
Big cats aren't a good fit for the same reasons. Biggest I've ever felt good about is chee, but I think I'm actually more comfortable going smaller, maybe right down to small cats.
Beaks - I tend to prefer short and slightly curved, so probably small predator birds.
Big predator beaks (like eagles) are right out - too aggressive looking for me. Also kinda open to reasonably proportional pointed beaks (like, maybe woodpecker shaped?)
Also: more cat like features. Four paws (Opinicus!) instead of talon-hands. Face more like a cat with a beak than a bird head on a cat body. And crests are good!
I'm probably a greyshades disaster, as much as I like bright colours, I shy away from them. Possible earthtones?
I think I like smaller builds, both in terms of height, and frame? Like, definitely not buff - I don't connect with that at all. But not rail thin either. Like, just, sort of short and not a lot of definition?
@reacocard@mastodon.social yeah, that's about where I stand. Probably 90% of the time, I want to find something that I remember from my timeline a week ago (but there isn't even a way to just search your own TL, so...)
The other 10% is "did I already tweet this?" or trying to find an image I attached from a different device. But even then it's maybe like, once a month or something.
It's a particular kind of frustration following a lot of people in the US who stand to be directly affected by this and... just unable to do anything at all, though.
Not American, so I can't even vote on anything (as if that could eject a supreme court appointment, anyway)
Anyway, you know how I feel about this. There's probably thousands of tweets I could RT about this, but I probably won't. My reach is small, and you're all already seeing it for yourselves anyway. It's exhausting, and burying everyone who follows me in misery isn't helpful.
I can't go to hell - I'm all out of vacation days.
Birds are good. Computers are bad. I'm too old for this.
