Misgendered four times in succession at the dinner table, with my quiet "they, please" getting louder each time. They had the good graces to apologize after realizing what they were doing, at least. But still. That didn't feel great.
(Not asking the parents to do "she," since it feels really weird coming from them)
EVERYONE, A WORD IF YOU PLEASE:
Thanksgiving is upon us. Many of you are looking upon the day with dread, I know. Please know: you are not alone. You are not the only person who feels alienated when they're around family. You're not the only one who is dealing with judgmental, bigoted, prejudiced relatives.
That is not to attempt to lessen your struggles; they are valid! But you're not alone! You have a whole support network here. Be strong and pull through!

OWLIE NEED SLEEPIES
@Phorm So, do genies in the bottle behave as ideal gasses?
Confession: In Tears for Fear's song "Dog's A Best Friend's Dog" I still hear the line "Down the mountain rescue" as "Gallimimus Rescue".
I also think the song's kinda better that way.
That Monster
The last time I contacted him, it was Christmastime and a little more than a year after everything went to hell. I laid out everything that he was responsible for as a result of his behavior, all the consequences that I was going through, all the damage that I was aware of, just how fucking messed up I'd gotten. I hoped at the time it ruined his Christmas.
I kinda hope that he spends December every year anxious that I'll suddenly show up and do it again.
So when I found out about Smaug lizards my first reaction was "same"

#meta #tea: Remember, from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that machine that "invariably delivered a cupful of liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea"?
Only decades after reading that, in an office in another country, did I first meet an older British "tea" machine. It could, in theory, produce chocolate, coffee, or tea; but invariably delivered a cupful of brown liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike any of them.
And I said, "Oh THAT'S what he meant."
Rare coastal dragoness, often found by sunny sea cliffs. Nonbinary but fairly femme-leaning. If you're under 18 don't follow.
