Restaurant is playing "Take On Me" loudly, a meteor blew up over Detroit instead of impacting, the lights in the water are beautiful, and I'm feeling pretty okay with this world right now.
Pastiche
My favorite writer and the one I wish I could imitate in my own prose, is Zelazny. I would not copy his voice, but I want to be able to evoke thoughts in paper as well as he does. The way he works in words...
But there is something delicate, beautiful, victimized, helpless, between the pages of The Moment Of The Storm and Comes Now The Power. I am greatly moved within, but have not the words to say how. I have seen but cannot name the vision.

An unnamed beach down a very steep, single-lane road. Super peaceful and beautiful, I got all zenned out after just a few minutes. Plus a couple of myna birds, which I am starting to think may be assigned to each tourist on arrival.
Found a very pleasant beach that will be a real black sand beach in a few thousand years, now eating lunch at a literal hole-in-the-wall burrito place.
Please don't forget to appreciate your kobolds today too! They are cute and adorable and several are very important to local infrastructure.

Was out on a little walk next to the seawall and saw lots and lots of tiny little fish jumping out of the water in sudden exodus, rushing away from a central point each time. Predator avoidance I'm sure, but it also looked like they were glowing faintly!
Useful statements about memes
Don't cross the streams. Don't feed them after midnight. Don't tell Mom the babysitter's dead. Don't cut the power to the raptor fences. Don't whizz on the electric fence.
Don't eat laundry detergent capsules that are coloured brightly and attractively because marketing is trying to excite you as about a distinctive product, and why are you rewarding that by giving them free advertising?

Birds are zipping along right through this restaurant from the porch area out through the front door. A sparrow every five minutes or so. Maybe it's the same one. Maybe they're doing laps.
Tomorrow: Glass-bottom boat tour, good food, snorkeling, further timelessness.
