aww hell yes we federating with a lot more instances now

also, friends from newly federated instances who tried to follow me before: you'll probably have to unfollow and refollow to make it not act all weird and quirky

@Thaminga Absolutely will. The protocol cannot handle "I tried to follow person X but their instance dropped the subscription request on the floor" because no one who devs this stuff ever thought this would ever happen except in the case of a deliberate instance block (where you wouldn't wanna leak that it failed in most cases anyway).

It's really unfriendly and the MO from dev is "Well we don't want whitelist only instances, don't do that" :/

@trysdyn haven't had any problem like this with you specifically since we didn't start following each other until after our instances started federating I'm pretty sure, but it may be a good idea for folks you tried to talk to prior to that!

@Thaminga Right. Before AS whitelisted me I'd followed a few people and while my instance thought I was following them, AS had never received or actioned the subscription, so AS was not sending those people's posts to me.

I actually had to do some under the hood hacking to get my instance to completely forget I ever followed them to get it to work-- but that's Pleroma. :P

Mastodon just required an un/re follow.
@Thaminga Also unrelated: I patched a bug in my instance of Pleroma just to make your avatar show up after that because 💦 :P

Is very ... is there a word between "aesthetic" and "hot"?
